Some rumors have begun to circulate recently and indicate that Xiaomi and Samsung should develop a custom chipset in partnership and the hardware can be used in company phones.
According to the details, the Chinese and South Korean giants have already signed a partnership and, over the past few months, have met five times to discuss the planning of the mobile platform.
The reports suggest that this partnership will result in a chipset based on Cortex X2 cores – the next architecture developed by ARM to be announced by the component company later this year. As for the graphics processing part, the team should continue with the video cards Mali, which are already used by Xiaomi today, mainly due to the limited amount of hardware available on the market.
It is important to note that, so far, both Xiaomi and Samsung have not yet confirmed the partnership and there is no forecast for when the personalized mobile platform of the two Asian companies will be made official. It is also worth mentioning that this is not the first time that the Chinese have shown interest in custom chipsets. A few years ago, the company launched the Surge S1 – a component that came to power the Xiaomi Mi 5C.
It is worth remembering that, in addition to the mobile platform, some reports already suggest that Xiaomi may launch a sensor for a cell phone camera with a resolution of 200 megapixels, also created in partnership with Samsung.
