Sony Xperia 1 III arrives with Snapdragon 888 and 4K screen at 120Hz, says rumor

Stabilized in the smartphone market, Sony seems to be already preparing its next line of smartphones for the most varied segments. The company had an intermediary equipped with a leaked Snapdragon 690 today, and the Xperia 5 III and Xperia 1 III flagships even had publicized renderings, indicating that Sony should maintain the classic straight-edged look seen on the company’s devices forever.

Now, courtesy of leaker Nodar Sikharulidze, it is possible that we have the first details about the specifications of the Xperia 1 III, the most premium model in the family. According to the information, the Japanese giant may push the display and hardware barriers beyond that seen in rivals again, with a set of respect.

As expected, the next high-end phone from Sony should follow the trend of rivals and adopt the Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm’s most powerful chip. Accompanying the robust 8GB LPDDR5 RAM processor, 256GB UFS 3.1 format storage, and generous 4,800mAh battery.

The screen and cameras are easily the highlights of the Xperia 1 III, which features a 6.51-inch panel with 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, the first in the market to feature this configuration, and four rear sensors, one 50MP main camera with 8K recording capacity, an ultrawide, a periscope and a ToF for depth.

However, although this set is not impossible, one of the specifications can discredit the rumor. The Snapdragon 888 is limited to 4K displays at 60Hz, which indicates one of two things: either Sony should adopt a stance similar to that of Samsung in the past and limit the high refresh rate to lower resolutions, such as Quad HD, or indeed these should not be the specifications of the device. Therefore, we can only wait for more leakers leaks with a more reliable history.
