Puffin OS: CloudMosa works as an alternative to Android with applications in the cloud

CloudMosa is famous for its mobile browser Puffin, considered the fastest in the category and reached Windows in late 2017. Now the developer has been working on a bolder project: creating an alternative operating system to Android, running applications in the cloud.

The company is investing in Puffin OS to integrate entry-level smartphones into the low-cost segment – as well as competitor KaiOS. The platform should be inspired by Android and will use web versions of apps.

Main features

Like the company’s browser, CloudMosa’s operating system will be 100% compatible with the cloud and can replicate applications from the internet through servers. On the one hand, this will generate an optimization in the performance of the weakest devices. On the other hand, it will require a mobile phone connected the whole time.

Puffin OS – just like Android – will also be considered an open platform. This way, other developers will be able to create more apps and services to it. The OS will have the Avatar architecture and will support HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript standards, as well as its own application store.

Availability

The cloud-based operating system will be available on the Kickstarter collective funding site – still undefined – and awaits collection for the completion of your project. Anyone contributing to the project may have access to Puffin OS Founders Edition, a developer-oriented package.
