The ban on Huawei in the US continues to generate a number of negative effects for the Chinese manufacturer, both economically and also in the research and development level, affecting even its relationship to Futurewei subsidiary, North American division of the brand engaged in research and development.
After the decision to officially separate from the Chinese parent company last month, relocating the entire staff to a new IT sector, the weather was heavy between the two – the subsidiary even banned its employees from using the Huawei logo or mentioning the firm in its official communications.
Now the maker of the upcoming Mate 30 Pro has begun to tell some employees about their layoffs, and according to the Wall Street Journal, they should be in the hundreds.
For information, there are about 850 Futurewei employees employed at various laboratories located in California, Washington, and Texas.
While Chinese workers at Huawei were fortunate enough to stay in the company, however, returning to their homeland, Americans were no longer contemplated with a happy ending – layoffs continue to be announced at the time of writing, and not all the staff were even communicated.
The link between Huawei and Futurewei began to be shaken as the various universities collaborating with the subsidiary disrupted relations after accusations of US security threat by the US government.
