Google messaging should take face filters like Snapchat and Instagram

Google messagingWe already know that Google is planning to launch a strong competitor of iMessage from Apple to Android, but while this news is not enough, the company is still committed to offering news to users using the company’s messaging application.

As reported by XDA Developers by a member of the forum, it seems that Google is planning to adopt augmented reality filters for the Messaging application, adding five unique filters and following the idea already made in other apps such as Snapchat and Instagram.

As you can see in the video below, we see the user Quinny899 open the camera inside the app itself and use the Effects option, displaying the options “Airplane”, “Balloon”, “Fireworks”, “Confetti” and “Angel” all well caricatured and with quality and definition below the competitors.

The functionality is still under test and, as XDA reminds itself, Google is trying to position Messaging as something beyond the direct competitor of iMessage, so adding features that go beyond just sending and receiving text, photos and videos can cause more people will adopt the service in the future.
