Google Maps enables dark mode in tests with users on Android

As much as several Google applications already have a native dark mode, Maps ended up being “left behind”. That’s because the search giant remains focused on the development of Android 11 with its main news.

However, all is not lost. According to reports from some users, Google has already started testing dark mode on Maps. The news began to be noticed this week by some selected people.

The developer Alessandro Paluzzi says that the improvement is being activated via the server. In addition, there are three customization options in the app: light, dark, and system default.

As we can see above, the dark mode developed by Google is more like gray than black. Anyway, the new functionality is likely to be much celebrated by the public.

That’s because a lot of people have been asking for this update on Google’s feedback channels. For now, the tests are still happening with few users and the search giant has not yet confirmed when it will release the news to everyone.
