Apple Begins Repair Program for Cracked Screens on Smart Watches

September 2, 2019 By Kamran Haider Leave a Comment

Smart WatchesAfter hearing some users complain, Apple decided to start a Watch screen replacement program . The news was announced on Monday (2) by means of an official press release.

According to the Cupertino company, Apple Watch Series 2 and 3 screens will be changed. Eligible models are only those made with aluminum body and this includes even the Nike + variant :

Apple has investigated and concluded that under very rare circumstances, a crack may form along the rounded edge of the screen on Apple Watch Series 2 or Series 3 aluminum models. This crack may start from one side and then continue on the screen.

Cupertino’s company has even set up a website dedicated to the swap program and has also warned that it is not valid for “Series 0, 1 or 4” models. Also, there is a restriction for “Series 3” models.

This is because only watches purchased until September 2019 will be eligible. Thus, it seems that Apple has managed to fix the problem on newer devices. However, the announcement may also indicate the end of Series 3 production.

It is noteworthy that it is not difficult to find stories of users angry at the cracks on Apple Watch screens. The case turned out to be a class-action lawsuit in California.
