Always on Native Display can reach iPhone 12 with screens similar to Apple Watch Series 5

The Apple Watch Series 5 is currently the only product in the Apple catalog with Always on Display, a feature so common on Android smartphones.

Fortunately, it seems that this is about to change, seeing that the apple could start adopting LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) panels, a technology that allows you to turn off individual pixels depending on the colors displayed on the screen.

The Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5 already use this type of panel, however, only the latest model of the Apple Smart Watch has Always On Display and can deliver up to 18 hours of use, according to the brand.

LTPO displays use 15% less power than the low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) currently used in Apple smartphones, including the iPhone 11 family.

That is, the likelihood of it being adopted on iPhone 12 or the next generation is very high, seeing that if we stop to think, Apple Watch (OLED) technology was also employed on iPhone X in 2017 – it ‘s like the smartwatch is a kind of guinea pig for new technologies.

Adding that probability to the arrival of a 5G modem on the iPhone of 2020, Apple has a killer combo for its customers in the next line of smartphones. This may also be the cue for her to finally get rid of LCD panels without their cell phones.

If Apple’s newest tops were able to surprise us with battery life, can you imagine when (and of course) if the LTPO screen replaces the current one? Will we finally have an iPhone in the ranking of smartphones with longer battery life? That only time will tell.
