Reset Your User Account Password

In case you have forgotten your Mac password, you don’t have to worry, as you can easily log back to your device.

  1. Turn off your Mac system.
  2. Start your Mac in Recovery Mode by holding down the Command + R keys altogether and then pressing the power button till the progress bar appears.
  3. Go to the menu bar, click Utilities and then go to Terminal. When a window pops up, type “resetpassword” (without quotes or spaces) and press Return.
  4. Quit Terminal window. Reset Password Tool will appear, and you can see the list of user accounts existing on Mac. Resetting the password for one account means you will have to reset the password for all other user accounts.

Reset Your Apple ID Password

If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, here’s the process to reset it.

  1. If you attempt to enter a wrong password several times, Apple will ask you if you want to reset your Apple ID password. Alternatively, click the question mark icon available in the password text field, and follow the instructions.
  2. Enter your Apple ID email address and password credentials. A pop-up will appear to inform you that a new keychain will be created to store your passwords. Click OK.
  3. Follow the instructions and prompts to create a new password.

Increase Available Disk Space

You can make more space on your Mac hard drive by optimizing its storage. The Storage Management window allows you to keep tabs on the MacBook’s storage. You can check it regularly and remove unnecessary system junk. The data that is removed from the hard disk is available on demand.You can also increase your Mac drive space by storing data in iCloud, optimizing storage by automatically removing movies and TV shows, emptying trash, and reducing the clutter by deleting duplicate and junk files from the hard disk.

Run Windows on Mac

If you’ve switched from Windows to Mac, you might want to browse your long-time, old operating system. Well, you can run Windows from your Mac system using Boot Camp. Go to the Applications folder, click Utilities, and then open Boot Camp. It will partition and split your hard drive between Mac and Windows.

While you can choose to allocate the ratio to both the operating systems, keep in mind that the storage space allocated to Mac will not be accessible in Windows and vice versa. Next, click Partition to complete the process.Your Mac will then ask for a Windows OS installation CD. The system will ask you the installation location, enter the name of the partitioned section. Once the process completes, your Mac will boot into Windows. Now every time you switch on your system, hold down the Option key to select the operating system you want to enter.  

Find Password for a Website or Program

Do you know that your Mac stores login and password credentials for all the websites and programs within a keychain? And don’t worry, all these details are encrypted and are stored locally such that only you can access them.

In case you forgot the password for any of your online accounts of any particular website or a program, you can simply recover it from Mac. To recover your account for any website or a program, launch Finder and click Applications. Click Utilities, open Keychain, and check the login details stored on the Mac. Using the search tool, you can find the details of the website or program you’re looking for.

Edit a PDF or Image File

As we all know, PDF is the most preferred file type for business communication and is widely used for sharing official information over emails. It’s really difficult to edit these files unless you use a third-party tool. However, you can annotate PDFs or image files on your Mac. Open PDF in Preview by double-clicking it. In the menu bar, click on View and select the Show Annotations Toolbar. It allows you to highlight, draw, scribble, digitally sign, and annotate the PDF file. Once you are done with edits, go to File and click Save As to save the file at the desired location on your Mac hard drive. You can also share the edited PDF document over email.
