YouTube gains feature that helps creators respond to user comments

In addition to delivering a host of new features for users, YouTube also works to improve the experience of content creators. Recently, the platform started testing a new advertising model that allows direct negotiation between producer and sponsor.

Now, in search of making life easier for those creators who need to respond to thousands of comments daily, the search giant is integrating the “smart reply” feature into YouTube Studio.

With the new functionality, instead of typing each word, the creator can choose the appropriate answer using a series of suggestions from SmartReply.

Initially developed for Gmail, SmartReply needed to be adapted for YouTube. According to Google, the task was a little more complex, since the video platform works with slang and other figures of speech that do not exist in the formal texts of emails.

Therefore, SmartReply should automatically select only comments that can be answered consistently and without possible human intervention.

To achieve this, Google trained AI to identify which comments need the simplest answers, such as an emoji.

For now, the novelty is only available in English and Spanish. Anyway, Google says that the feature will soon be adapted to new languages.
