Xiaomi has been testing the system-wide dark mode across multiple devices through MIUI updates. Some smartphones of the brand already have the possibility of darkening the standard launcher, such as Redmi note 5.
Other devices, such as Mi 8, have acquired the feature in the recent MIUI beta update, not yet available in the stable version. While the Pocophone F1, one of the most acclaimed when it comes to value for money, curiously does not have the dark mode officially – it should arrive in the next update of the interface of Xiaomi, whether in version 10 or 11 – as well as the Redmi Note 7.
But for the more rushed, good news. One of the senior developers of XDA Developers has discovered a backdoor to enable dark system-wide mode on the Pocophone F1 and any other Xiaomi running the stable MIUI 10. For this, it is necessary to execute a simple ADB command, and the method works even without root on the smartphone.
To enable system-wide dark mode in MIUI 10, enter the command:
adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 2
Disabling the dark mode is also simple. Just enter the following command:
adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 1
In order for the system to automatically switch between light and dark modes, simply type:
adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 0
In Every Cell Teaches, we explain how to use the ADB commands, which require a computer or notebook and a USB cable. In addition, you must enable the developer options and authorize the Debugging USB, USB Install, and USB Debug (Security Settings) items. After activating the commands, it is necessary to activate the ADB reboot option in ADB so that the command is valid.
