Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 starts receiving February security patch

This week, Samsung began offering a new update for Galaxy A8 2018 owners. From now on, users can go to their phone settings to download the updated Google security package for February 2021.

The update started to reach intermediate users in 2018 with the build number A530FXXSHCUB1 and the first to receive the new version were the owners of the smartphone in the United Arab Emirates, who received the notification as early as last Sunday (31).

For now, there is no information about the arrival of the update for Galaxy A8 2018 units in other countries, but it is very likely that soon Samsung will send the notification to carry out the update to a larger base of owners of the device. It is worth remembering that this model is not the only one to receive the latest security patch from Google, and last year’s flagships of the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 lines have also received the new version.

As always, the update is released in stages in an update via OTA (over-the-air). So, if you want to check if your phone can be updated, just access the device settings, navigate to Software Update and click on “Download and install”.

The Galaxy A8 2018 was released with Android 7.1.1 – Nougat – from the factory and, since its debut, received major software updates with the arrival of Android 8 – Oreo – and Android 9 – Pie. The device, therefore, should not receive large updates, but it is possible that security updates are still available periodically.
