Already showing positive results since its implementation, the function has just carried out a process recently opened in San Francisco by SMTM Technology, a company that guarantees that the resource had already been registered in its patents registered in 2013 and guaranteed in 2015.

The record, titled Mobile device inactive mode and inactive mode verification, would have been purchased by SMTM Technology from its inventor, Nick Bovis.
In the notes included, “distracted steering” is compared to steering under the influence of alcohol, and the technology could even help prove that drivers were not using their smartphones after collisions.

Instead of licensing the Bovis patent, Apple bet that SMTM and Mr. Bovis would not have the acumen in business or capital to claim their claims on the Bovis patent.
Recently the Cupertino giant was also sued because of issues with Apple Watch and the “butterfly” keyboard of the MacBook Pro – this second even gave rise to a keyboard replacement program for laptop models released from 2015 onwards.
Whether Apple infringed patents or not, the court should decide in the coming weeks, but the company in question, SMTM Technology, is known as a “Patent Troll,” a typical firm that buys patents in order to profit from its violations.
