Look, without your hands! Alexa can now be activated by voice detection on Android and iOS

It took a while, but Amazon finally made it possible to use its virtual assistant Alexa through voice detection on Android and iOS smartphones.

Among the possibilities are asking her to play her favorite songs, controlling smart home devices and various other things, and more – all without having to touch her cell phone.

The novelty came through an update already available for the Android application (via Google Play Store) or iOS (via App Store), and it only works if the personal assistant is set as the default in the system or if the app is open.

After that, just say the keyword (Alexa) and speak normally. Once Alexa detects the activation word, a blue line is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

In previous versions, users were required to interact with the app by touching a blue button at the bottom to access the wizard, so the news will be very welcome.

It is worth mentioning that this new feature, which only works if the phone is unlocked and the app is open on the screen, is being released to everyone in the coming days. For those who did not like the news very much, by the way, it is possible to disable it in the app settings.
