After hiding the number of post likes on its platform, Instagram may have decided to go back. For this reason, the company started the tests with a kind of in-between solution.
The idea of the social network is to allow the user to choose whether or not to show the number of likes on their posts. However, the company ended up making a big mistake during the release of the novelty.
According to Instagram itself, “a greater number of users” has been placed in the beta program for the new feed post-experience.
We've been testing a new experience to hide likes on Feed posts. We unintentionally added more people to the test today, which was a bug — we’re fixing this issue and restoring like counts to those people as soon as possible.

We are testing a new experience to hide likes on feed posts. Today, we inadvertently added more people to the test, which was a bug – we are fixing this and resetting the tan count for these people as soon as possible.
Instagram also confirmed that the problem has now been resolved and these people have been removed from the testing program. However, it should take a little longer for them to access and restore the display of the likes in your posts.

For now, the social network has yet to confirm whether the middle ground solution will be offered to all users. Even so, the idea of the company is mainly to please content creators, who use their likes as a showcase to get commercial partnerships.
