Google Contacts is updated and now allows you to change your Google Account profile photo

Google Contacts is the official Android contact application and has recently become a powerful tool that brings more functions than just your calendar. The app already highlights a particular contact registered for emergencies, and even has integration with Google Pay in some regions. Now, its newest update should strengthen its role as a social hub.

Users were given the ability to exchange their Google Account profile photo directly from Contacts. The functionality is very simple and only requires the user to touch the icon of his photo in the app, touch the camera icon that will appear in the new window, and then choose to replace using Google Photos or the mobile gallery itself, or even delete the image.

The photo change will be reflected in all Google services, including Gmail, Drive, Maps, and Google Photos itself. Although it is not a big change, the novelty facilitates the process, considering that before it was necessary to access the account settings within the smartphone settings menu.

The feature was discovered by the XDA Developers website in code analysis of version 3.31 during the testing phase and is now being made widely available in version 3.38 of Contacts. We can expect more news soon, considering that the analysis also found references to a trash can in which deleted contacts will remain temporarily, a function already available in the web version of the service.
