Google adds favicons and changes site domain order in PC Search

Since May last year, Google has been displaying all Search results with a favicon – small logo – and the domain name of the top sites in its smartphone app. Now the Mountain View giant will also apply the same change to the desktop tool.

In addition to the change in the order of content that appears in searches, the company will also highlight the “Advertising” label in bold and black when the link is sponsored.

The company’s intent is to brand a website as “front and center” to help the Internet user understand where the information comes from and which pages have what they are looking for.

It is important to note that the site icons have a function in “anchoring” each result to help you decide what to explore later. They still play an important role for webmasters when choosing a preferred icon for organic listing.

Desktop favicons on Google Search are expected to arrive later this week. The company may add other action buttons and helpful visualizations to the result cards in the future.

Remember that, soon, the Google search should also be awarded order tracking. There is no deadline for the feature to be implemented yet.
