GOG will have Support for Mods Sooner or Later

CD Projekt claims to have “many features planned” for the platform.

The digital distribution platform GOG will have an internal tool to download and manage mods, confirms director Piotr Karwowski in an interview with Eurogamer on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of this CD Projekt initiative. The real question, he says, is rather when it will arrive.

“We study the needs of developers when we implement new features in GOG, whether we are talking about CD Projekt or any independent study” explains Karwowski. “If they say ‘guys, we need to upload patches on our own’, we let them in. If for a game they say ‘guys, we’d like to sign the release, but it’s an important feature for us’, that automatically increases our priority. that we will end up developing [support for mods], the question is when “.

During the interview, we also contemplated the possibility of collaborating with Nexus Mods , one of the most popular sites for the traffic of mods in PC games. As indicated by GOG, both platforms already have some relationship with each other and does not rule out the possibility of implementing support for mods as a whole. We imagine that the final result would not be very different from Steam Workshop, the equivalent of the Valve platform.
