Commenting on the matter, Redmi director Lu Weibing went straight and confirmed that Xiaomi should not launch the Redmi Note 9 family in China. That’s because the company wants to focus on 5G devices in its homeland:
The company does not plan to launch the Redmi Note 9 in the Chinese market. Our goal is to focus on the production of 5G-enabled phones, expanding our portfolio with new options for the Chinese people.
After the executive’s statement, many people began to speculate that the Chinese giant may follow the same strategy used with the Redmi Note 6 line. For those who do not remember, the family was practically ignored in China and the company jumped directly to the Redmi Note 7.
Shortly thereafter, the Ministry of Communications and Technology of China certified two new smartphones with the numbers M2004J7AC and M2004J7BC. According to several rumors, these devices are already the new Redmi Note 10 and 10 Pro.
As there is little progress between the Redmi Note 8 and 9 families, Xiaomi may end up jumping straight to the Note 10 in its homeland. Speaking a little more about the new devices, the simplest has fast charging of 22.5W, while the Pro variant reaches 33W.
In addition, the Redmi Note 10 can be made official with a MediaTek Dimensity 800 5G processor and the Pro variant will feature the Density 800 Plus. For now, MediaTek has not yet made this chipset official, but it looks like it will also be featured at the May 7 event.
