The Apple Books app on the iPad and iPhone can do a lot just give you the books you want to read. You can save, share, sign, and mark up PDFs with it. Here’s in this guide you learn how to save and mark up PDF files with the Books app on iOS.

Save a file, email, or page to Books

Depending on the place where you are saving the file from, whether it is a files app, a webpage, or an email. You’ll be sending it to the Books app from the Share menu. So, you may need to add it to your sharing options.

Save a PDF from Files

Step 1:

Firstly, Tap and hold the file to open the shortcut menu.

Step 2:

Now choose Share.

Step 3:

Select Open in Books.

Save an attachment from Mail

Step 1:

Firstly, Tap and hold the file to open the shortcut menu.

Step 2:

Choose Share.

Step 3:

Select Copy to Books.

Save an email from Mail

Step 1:

Firstly, Open the email in your Mail app.

Ste 2:

Now click the Actions button (reply arrow).

Step 3:

Choose Print.

Step 4:

When the print preview opens, expand your fingers on it outward to make it larger.

Step 5:

After that you’ll see the Share button on the top right, tap it.

Step 6:

Select Copy to Books.

Save a webpage in Safari

Step 1:

Open the webpage and click the Appearance button at the top.

Step 2:

Now choose Show Reader View.

Step 3:

Click the Share button at the bottom.

Step 4:

Select Books.

Mark up, sign, or share the PDF

Once the PDF saved, open the Books app and click Library at the bottom. Then choose your PDF and you can sign it or mark it up and then share it.

Click the Markup button at the top. You’ll see your marker, pen, and highlighter tools at the bottom for you to mark up the document.

If you click the plus sign at the bottom, you can also get additional choices to add text, a signature, a shape, or an arrow.

Once you finish making your edits, click the Markup button again to return to the main screen for the PDF. Also, you can share it with the Share button. You can also send the PDF from the Library tab using the More button (three-dot icon) below the PDF.

Remove a PDF from Books

If you want to delete a PDF you’ve saved to the Books app, you can do it in a few simple steps.

Step 1:

Click the More button below the PDF on the Library tab.

Step 2:

Choose Remove.

Step 3:

Select to Remove from Reading NowRemove Download, or Delete Everywhere.
