Import and Export Mailbox: How To?

0

Import and Export Mailbox: If you just started using the Mail app on your Mac, you need to import a mailbox file from another app. It gives you a great jumpstart on answering and tracking emails during the transition.

At the same time, you might need to export a mailbox from the Mail app for use elsewhere. Maybe you’re trying out the latest email app and also want to use your existing messages intact.

Also, the Mail app on your Mac makes it easy to both import and export mailboxes. Our guide shows you how to export and import Mail.

Import a mailbox to Mail

You can also import a mailbox from Apple Mail or as a file that may or may not be named with the MBOX format.

Step 1:

Firstly, Open Mail and tap File > Import Mailboxes from the menu bar.

Step 2:

Also, Mark either Apple Mail or Files in mbox format and tap Continue.

Step 3:

You’ll then be prompted to locate the file and then tap Choose.

No matter which choice you choose for the import. You’ll see a confirmation when the data is loaded. Then you’ll have the latest mailbox labeled Import in the On My Mac section of the left-hand sidebar.

Export a mailbox from Mail

Make sure, you’ll be exporting a complete mailbox as MBOX format. You’d also export a specific email as a PDF from the Mail app. But that’s a different process and here’s how we can help you with that.

Step 1:

Firstly, open the Mail app and right-click or hold Control and click on the Mailbox you want to export.

Step 2:

In the shortcut menu, choose Export Mailbox

Step 3:

Choose a destination location for the MBOX file for your mailbox and tap Choose.

You should also see that MBOX file in your chosen location. From there you can import it to another supported app.

Conclusion:

Here’s how to Import and Export Mailbox. There’s nothing easier when moving data like emails and mailboxes to and from the Mail app instead of an import/export feature.
