The VideoKid is a three-dimensional arcade with a very similar approach to the classic Paperboy, in which instead of having to deliver newspapers, we will have to deliver video tapes. And instead of riding a bike, we will go over our faithful skateboard.
The control system of The VideoKid is very simple: sliding to the sides we can make our protagonist move from left to right, while sliding up will jump. If we press the screen, we will launch a video tape. The objective, of course, will be to reach the end of the street putting as many appointments as we can into the mailboxes. But it will not be easy at all.
Along the street where our protagonist has to deliver the video tapes, we will run into a multitude of obstacles. We will have to dodge cars that come from both directions, pedestrians, open sewers, fences in the middle of the road, banks, and much more. The fun of the matter, is that almost all these obstacles refer to some famous element of cinema or television of the eighties. For example, we will have to dodge Roger Rabbit’s taxi, Inspector Gadget or the Ninja Turtles.
The VideoKid is a fun three-dimensional arcade that manages to update a simple but fun approach, such as Paperboy, and adds a fun ‘eighty’ ambience. The graphic section of the game, in addition, with its polygonal aesthetic, is quite good.
