Smash Champs is a two-dimensional fighting game in which players will not actually directly control their fighters. Instead we will have to train our champion so that, when push comes to shove, he can defeat his enemies without us controlling him.
At the beginning of the game, players will be able to choose one of the six available fighters. At our disposal we will have a leopard, a gorilla, a hyena, a bear or a crocodile, among other anthropomorphic fighters. This choice of fighter will be important, as each of them have different abilities and affinities.
In Smash Champs, our champion’s training is carried out using a mechanic that is very reminiscent of Fruit Ninja. Players (assuming the role of coach) will have to hit some balls so that the champion can return them. Of course, they will have to be careful with the explosive balls (as in Fruit Ninja).
Once the training is finished, it is the turn of the combat. During these two-dimensional fights the players will only be able to look at their fighters. This part of the game can be a bit boring, although luckily the good graphics in Smash Champs are funny.
Smash Champs is an entertaining title developed by the same Subway Surfers authors, which while retaining its visual style, breaks with everything else. The only problem is that watching our champions battles makes us want to control our champions … and that is precisely not possible.
