XCOM Legends is a turn-based strategy game in which players will be able to control a squad of up to five soldiers, with which they will have to face the alien threat throughout an extensive single-player campaign. We can also measure our forces against other players over the Internet thanks to the PvP mode, in which one of the two sides will be under the mind control of the aliens.
The XCOM Legends story mode will allow us to continue the story of the previous two titles in the saga. Twenty years have passed since the alien invasion, Earth has a new master and lord, and we XCOMs are the last remaining rebel stronghold on the entire planet. Luckily, we will have some familiar faces from the franchise, who will return to help us in our titanic endeavor.
The XCOM Legends combat system is a very simplified version of the combat that we can find in the previous two of the saga. We can use cover elements and move our units, but the space we will have for this will be very, very small. Similarly, each of our units will have various abilities and attacks, but with slightly reduced complexity. In short, instead of participating in large half-hour battles as is the tradition at XCOM, we will participate in short battles of just one or two minutes.
Between battle and battle, as usual, we will be able to manage both our base of operations and our soldiers. We will use a gacha system to acquire new recruits, who we will be able to personalize and level up little by little. Each type of recruit has a different range of skills, which can be more or less useful depending on the type of enemy we face.
XCOM Legends is a highly entertaining strategy game that offers a different experience than the one that fans of the XCOM series are used to, much more accessible and less demanding. The game also has spectacular visuals that have little or nothing to envy that which we can see in XCOM2.
